Description
These two traditional spirituals, Nobody Knows the Trouble I’ve Seen and I’ve Been in the Storm too Long work well together. The arrangement begins with the arrival of the storm, which gradually fades and passes, resolving into a thoughtful reflection on the woes caused by the tempest. The storm returns with building fury but quickly passes, once again settling into stillness. Just before the song’s ending, the storm echoes off in the distance, letting us know that our troubles may not yet be over. This is the ninth arrangement in my Contemplative Spirituals for Solo Piano collection.
